Sandy is survived by her children Cora-Lee Ertler of Lively, ON and Eugen Ertler of Webbwood, ON along with many nieces and nephews throughout Canada and the USA. She is also survived by Brother in laws Fred Laderoute Sr. and Edmund, (Monty) More Sr.
Sandy was a story teller, a music lover, a diehard Elvis fan, an incredible mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She adored spending time with her family and was at her happiest when the bonfire was blazing and the guitars were playing. She loved Trivial Pursuit, gardening, sipping her morning coffee on the deck, having a good book at the ready, feeding her beloved song birds, enjoying pop, chips and chocolate bars as an evening “treat” and cranking her music up loud. Everybody was welcomed into her home and she was fondly called Mrs. E by the neighbourhood kids who sat around her kitchen table on a regular basis through their younger years. An avid animal lover, she saved many stray cats and dogs over her lifetime and always had multiple pets in her home.
Born in Webbwood, Ontario, she called the town home for over 70 years except for a brief period in Sudbury during her high school and early working years. An independent career woman, she met the love of her life, married him, traded in her Ford Farlane for a pickup truck and moved 70 miles back into the bush to Camp 1. She told everybody that was one of the happiest times of her life.
Respecting Sandy’s wishes, there will be no funeral or service. Cremation with internment will be at the family plot at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Webbwood, on Saturday July 9th, 2016 followed by a Celebration of Sandy’s life at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Webbwood.
Donations in Sandy’s memory are asked to be made to the Sudbury SPCA or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Canada.
When I behold the heavens in their vastness,
Where golden ships in azure issue forth,
Where sun and moon keep watch upon the fastness
Of changing seasons and of time on earth.
- Verse from “How Great Thou Art” (Sang by Elvis, of course).
Arrangements entrusted to Lougheed Funeral Home.
