Born March 26th, 1934 in S. Ippolito, Cosenza Italia, died June 22nd, 2016 at Sudbury.

Beloved wife of Ippolito “Paul” Occhiuto (predeceased 2008). Dear daughter of Giuseppe and Giulia (nee Bonofiglio) Spagnuolo both predeceased. Dear sister of Gerardo (Lina) Spagnuolo, Italy; Paolina Spagnuolo (Mario predeceased), Stoney Creek, Ontario; and Lidia Gualtieri, Niagara Falls, Ontario. Loving mother of Giuliana Waram (David), Silvana (predeceased) and Renato. Cherished Nonna of Laura (Alastair) Watcham (United Kingdom), Cheryl Waram (Ottawa, Ontario), James Waram (Espanola, Ontario) and Adria Waram (Toronto, Ontario).

Our mother represented a generation of women immigrants who struggled through a foreign language and culture to have the opportunity to provide an abundant life for her family. In doing that she became one of many to help integrate the best of her own culture to the Canadian mosaic. From the enviable Italian garden that she and our father worked so lovingly on to the culinary delights produced from her kitchen that left anyone who was lucky enough to sample in awe, she left her mark. Her legacy, in no small part, includes unyielding devotion to her family right to the very end. She is cherished and will be missed by all of her nieces, nephews and many cousins around the world. We would like to thank Dr. Gil and his staff, all of the staff on the 4th floor North who cared for our mother with kindness and dignity, Bayshore, C.C.A.C., and Red Cross.
