Obituary for
Vittoria Bruna Zanini (Milocco)
In Loving Memory
of
Vittoria Bruna Zanini (nee Milocco)
1935 – 2016
Who passed away on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury at the age of 81 with her family by her side.
Beloved wife of Giuseppe “Beppi” Zanini for 58 years. Dear mother of Frankie, Giorgio (Sharon), Sandro and Michael (Melanie). Precious Nonna to Andrea (Tom), Emily (Zack), Jonathan, Ava and Danica. Predeceased by her parents Antonio and Iolanda and brother Riccardo (Paola of San Daniele). Cherished sister of Romilda Battigelli (Luciano) and Marisa Lizzi (Rino) of San Daniele, Friuli, Italy. Beloved sister-in-law of Teresa and Guido Pidutti of Coniston and Cecilia (Edoardo predeceased) of San Daniele, Friuli, Italy and Clorinda (Pietro) Zanon both predeceased. Vittoria was born in Nogaredo al Torre, Friuli, Italy in 1935. She was raised in a modest family and worked as a teenager in San Daniele making shoes to help support her family. She met Beppi and after a very short courtship, she left her entire family behind and followed him to Canada where they were married in 1958. She had four sons who she made the center of her life for 57 years.
Vittoria was a gifted cook whose specialties included out of this world lasagna, cannelloni and crostoli that graced the Christmas supper table for “tanti” years. She loved gardening and took pride in her flowers – always insisting they be included in pictures.
Faith and church were an important part of her life. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Clement’s and then St. Anthony’s Church. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Women’s League for 38 years.
Vittoria enjoyed singing and was a member of the Montessori Choir of Sudbury for many years. She was a member of the Caruso Club Ladies Auxiliary and a proud member of the Fogolar Furlan Club of Sudbury. The Furlan Club celebrates the culture of the many tremendous people who emigrated from the Friuli region of Northern Italy to the Sudbury Area and Vittoria considered many of them her lifelong friends.
Vittoria was a wonderful wife, loving mother and mother-in-law, caring Nonna, tender Zia and devoted friend who leaves a large hole in the hearts of many people that will never be filled.
Many thanks for all the wonderful caregivers during her illness.
