Obituary for
Maxie Trudeau
Maxie passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Health Sciences North, Sudbury.
Maxie was a proud community member of Wikwemikong and spent many years working for both the Housing and Public Work’s Water Delivery divisions. He gave his time to serve as a volunteer firefighter, on the Wikwemikong Development Commission board of directors and was a Commissioner for the Wikwemikong Tribal Police board.
Maxie grew up and lived in Buzwah, and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, spend time near the water, and out on the land with his family. He played competitive fastball and was a catcher with a great throwing arm, and enjoyed slow-pitch with family and friends, he played hockey and ball with the Buzwah Skids. Maxie also greatly enjoyed spending many winter evenings at the curling rink playing with and against his wife and children, and his many friends at the curling club. In recent years, he would prefer not to be disturbed when his favourite television show, the Young and the Restless, came on. He treasured the time spent with his granddaughters Olive and Lauren.
Forever cherished by his wife Loretta, his children Barry (Brenda) and Marcia (Saul), his beloved grandchildren Olive-Marie and Lauren, and by his Godchildren Robert, Karen, Michael, Shane and John. He will be missed by his buddies Peak Sr, Clarence, Godfrey Jr and many other good friends.
Predeceased by Oma and Opa Olive and Ignatius, father-in-law John, and brother and sisters Isadore, Josephine, Rosie, Victor, Smitty, and Randy.
Survived by mother-in-law Victorio, brothers and sisters Alphonse, Stella, Victor (Dorothy), Linda, Liz, Maureen, Gary (Martina), Agnes, Gloria (Henry), Rosemary, Frances, Jennifer (Willie), Verna (Wayne), Phil, Don (Candace), and Karen (Guy). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Resting at St. Ignatius Church, Buzwah where friends may call after 2pm Saturday. Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Mission, Wikwemikong on Monday, January 30th, 2017 at 11am
