Charles A. Thomas
It is with great sorrow that the family of Charles A. Thomas announce his peaceful passing just short of his 92nd birthday surrounded by his loving family at Health Sciences North on February 26th, 2017. Beloved husband and best friend of Loretta (Goudreau) Thomas for 67 years. Loving father of Judy Shrive (Peter), Bob Thomas predeceased (Connie), Susie Racicot (Richard) and Christine McMullen (Bill). Special grandfather of Stella Racicot, Michelle Piggott (David), Mandy Somers, Jenny Rybachuk (Jody), Jamie Thomas, Nick McMullen, Kassandra Thomas and Alyssa McMullen and great grandfather of Ebony Thomas, Keegan Piggott, Haylee Somers, Kayiesha Thomas, Payton Somers, Darwyn Somers, Quinn Piggott and Caleb and Dylan Rybachuk And adopted daughter Shirley Giff. He was loved by all who knew him. Charles worked for Falconbridge for over 40 yrs until his retirement in 1982. He was a master electrician, electrical planner and owned his own business “Thomas Electric”. He was most happy when surrounded by his family whether it be at his camp on the Wahnapitae River or sitting around the kitchen table. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. One of his favourite pastimes was making “Papa’s soup” for everyone, planting his garlic and shopping at Wal-Mart filling up the basket with snacks while riding the scooter. He was a generous soul and will be missed by all. Special thanks to the staff in the Emergency Department as well as Dr. Paul Gibb for the compassionate care
Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury where friends may call from 4-8pm Wednesday, March 1st, 2017. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Street, Sudbury on Thursday, March 2nd, 2017 at 10:30am.
Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium with interment of ashes in St. John’s Cemetery, Garson. If desired, in lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated
