We are deeply sadden to share the news that our mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on March 8th, 2017.

Loving mother of Rae (Rachelle née Labelle), Beth (Fred LaPierre) and Richard (predeceased); Grandmother to Scott (Jean) and David (Jess); Great-Grandma to Cash. She was also a special aunt Joyce to her many nieces and nephews. Joyce was raised in Kirkland Lake, daughter to Richard (Dick) and Lyla Roberts and older sister to Carl (all predeceased).

Joyce married Irwin Angus and for a number of years they followed the mines- from Kirkland Lake to Elliot Lake to finally settle in Falconbridge in 1963.
When Irwin (more commonly referred to as Angus) was alive, summers were spent on Manitoulin Island – Kamp Kagawong – with the occasional trip north to Culver Park in the Kirkland Lake area. They spent many memorable summers with the Bedforth’s and the Whitehead’s while at Kagawong.
It was after Joyce’s visit with Rae while he was posted in Germany her love of travel was awakened. She was fortunate that her friend Kathy also loved to travel and the two of them went on many road trips – even as far as Newfoundland. Joyce also had the pleasure of going on a number of bus trips planned by Margaret – her favourite being the trip to Italy followed up by the yearly bus trips to Toronto to see plays and shop at various craft shows. In more recent years, Joyce enjoyed travelling to Arizona where Rae and Rachelle have a winter home. She was fortunate enough to spend all last winter in the sunny southwest.
When at home Joyce was kept busy volunteering at the Legion where she was a Charter and Life member of the Falconbridge-Garson L.A. She had a very active church life – initially at St. Stephens in Falconbridge and in later years Trinity United in Garson. Free time was spent with her Book Club ladies of course, “the Wild Wid’s” – Kathy, Madeline, Eva and Amy – most New Year’s Eve celebrations you would find them together. In October 2016 Joyce celebrated her 90th birthday with friends and family at the Falconbridge-Garson Legion.

Cremation with interment in the family plot at Kirkland Lake Cemetery.
(Friends may call2-5 P.M. Sunday, or after 1:30 P.M. Monday. A Legion Service at 3:00 P.M. Sunday under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 336 Ladies Auxiliary).
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
