In Loving Memory of Catherine (nee MacNeil) MacDonald 86 years Peacefully, Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at Extendicare Falconbridge, Sudbury, with loving family at her side. Beloved wife of Archie MacDonald predeceased 1995. Loving mother of Donnie MacDonald (Debby), Dougie MacDonald (Donna), Betty Ann O’Reilly (Mike), Darren MacDonald, and Karen Lielkalns predeceased (Leo). Cherished grandmother of Meghan (Brent), Daniel (Ashley), Kaylan, Ian, Tyson (Andrea), Darren (Brittany), Andrew, Kelly, Michael, Patrick, Max, Cameron (Kristin), Kaleigh (Kurtis), Courtney (Troy), and great grandchildren Carter, Callie, Hudson, Lily, Ellie, Shaylee, and Kylinn. Dear daughter of Danny Sandy and Jessie Agnes (Cameron) MacNeil both predeceased. Dear sister of the late Alex (Marianne), Annie Mae (Johnny Rankin), Edward, Neil, Rebecca, Belle (Findlay), Peggy (Jack Small), Betty (Danny MacDonald) all predeceased and Joe predeceased (wife Florence), Eddie (Gertie predeceased), and Maude (Omer Campbell). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Catherine was a proud Cape Bretoner who embodied the MacNeil Motto, which was “conquer or die”. She was born and raised in Rankinville, Nova Scotia. She married Archie MacDonald in 1953 in Niagara Falls, moving to Sudbury in the early sixties. She worked at Carlton Cards for 11 years. An avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, she was a keen crib player and euchre player. She was an accomplished baker having won awards for her baking. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing and hosting family dinners. She was devoted to her family. The light of her life will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. The family expresses their appreciation to the 3rd floor staff at Extendicare Falconbridge for their care, compassion, and support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Extendicare Falconbridge Residents’ Council would be appreciated. Funeral Prayers in the R. J. Barnard Chapel Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury Monday, April 3rd, 2017 at 7pm. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Civic Memorial Cemetery.
