Obituary for Iris Dagg (Higginson)

The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Iris Amelia Dagg (nee Higginson) peacefully with family and dear friends by her side on the evening of April 3rd, 2017. Born July 22nd, 1924 in Brighton, Sussex, England, Iris was a war bride who immigrated to Canada in 1946 to join her beloved husband Archie in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. They then made their home and raised their family in Sudbury where she lived for 70 years. More than anything in the world, her biggest love was to be with children. She was "Nanny" to everyone - her grandchildren, the children she babysat, her foster children and every kid on the street. She loved music, dancing, and camping. Nanny was always doing things for people, whether it was knitting for them, making her famous home made soup or taping her grandchildren's favourite t.v. shows and movies to watch with them later. She was a very active member of the War Brides club and she loved going to Church with her many friends. In her younger years she was an active member of the Lions Club, and Envelope Secretary of Calvin Presbyterian Church.

Beloved daughter of the late Lillian & Charles Higginson. Wife of Archie Dagg (predeceased, 1995); Loving Mother of Brian (Barbara Mossop); Jim (Barb); Colleen Heidman (Bruce). Cherished Nanny to Connie (Marc); Rick (predeceased); Andrew; David (Natalie); Stephen; Sydney (Pascal); Camryn (Kole). Great-grandmother of Gillian; Benjamin; Hannah; Alison and Jack.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and dear friends at the Cedar Wing at Pioneer Manor for their loving care of Iris in her final year.

At Nanny's request, there will be no public visitation or service. A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held at a later date. (Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home)
