Beloved husband of Doreen (D’Arcy) McGuire predeceased 2004. Loving father of Barbara (husband Tim Fenske predeceased), Betty (husband Ben Rowley), Patrick (wife Michelle), Kevin (wife Margaret), Michael (wife Anne), D’Arcy (wife Marge), and Christopher (wife Celia). Cherished grandfather of 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Dear son of Thomas and Susan (Cox) McGuire both predeceased. Dear brother of Wilbert predeceased (wife Fleurette “Pinky”), Iona (husband Raymond Morris) and the late Billy predeceased. Sadly missed by loving nieces and nephews.

Born in Allumette Island, Quebec, Sylvester married Doreen (D’Arcy) in 1946 in Sheenboro. They settled in Sudbury in 1946. He was a plant protection officer at INCO, having 39 years service when he retired in 1982. A devout Roman Catholic, Sylvester was a founding member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, where he served on the funeral team and he was a Eucharistic Minister. He also was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus of Council 6074. Sylvester was devoted to his family. The light of his life will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 at 10am.
Interment in the family plot at the Civic Memorial Cemetery.
