Obituary for Mary Lou Keeley (Kline)

Mary Lou Keeley (Kline)
In loving memory of a kind, caring, warm and beautiful soul Mary Louise Keeley (Kline), 95 years, May 24, 2017 at Health Science North, Sudbury. Beloved wife of John Edward Keeley (predeceased 1995). Loving mother of Mary Joan (David), Michael (Susan predeceased), Nancy (Bob), Patrick (Andrea) and Daniel(Viviana). Dear daughter of Joseph and Delphine Kline (both predeceased). Dear sister of Joseph Jr. (Josephine) both predeceased. Cherished grandmother of eight grandchildren and great grandmother of six great grandchildren.
Born and raised in Laurium, Michigan, Mom attended Suomi College and would go on to nurses’ college to graduate as a registered nurse. Here she met dad who was attending Michigan Tech University. Mom was a supportive and resilient wife who moved numerous times in support of dad’s career in metallurgical engineer.
Mom was a very compassionate kindly soul with a warm heart who always made others feel at ease. Mom brought peace to all that had but even a chance to speak to her. Our friends often referred to her as their second Mom.
Mom would marvel at nature’s wonder speaking of the beauty that God has given us. She loved flowers but especially red roses and African violets. Mom loved dogs and would never miss the opportunity to stop and pet one and of course feed them a few treats. Thank you to Magic Paws of Sudbury for their many visits at Pioneer Manor. Mom adored children and found great joy in their innocence and wonderment. At Christmas time, Mom would buy all sorts of toys for boys and girls who were from less fortunate families and wrap them up and bring them to the Church so that they would surely have something under the tree. At the same time, Mom would bake for us adult children care packages which contained our favourite homemade cookies such as cream cheese dainties, meringues, cinnamon rolls and shortbread and various Christmas candy making sure they all arrived on time,
One of the many places the family moved to was Bishopton Quebec, where Mom was fortunate to meet her dearest friend Myrna with whom she travelled to various destinations. Mom considered her as her sister she never had.
Mom loved going to Florida during the winter months where Nancy and Bob resided. Needless to say, they spoiled her by taking her to the best all you can eat buffet restaurants and Nancy creating and sewing beautiful clothes for Mom. Mom just loved it! Here in Sudbury, in the summer Mom enjoyed spending time at Dan’s camp on Lake Wahnapitae where she loved going for boat rides or spending time in the sunroom while doing puzzles overlooking the lake. Mom looked forward to flying to New Jersey and Colorado where she was able to see Patrick, Mary Joan and Michael and all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. On various occasions as her children visited she would prepare our favourite food like pasties and lazy day cake. The twinkle in Mom’s eyes showed that she was so very proud of all her children.
Mom was most happy when all her children were around her. She was our “Queen”. It brought her so much joy because it always reminded her of her childhood memories about Nana and Baba which were retold to us that we will forever cherish in our hearts. She longed so much to be together with them and now she is forever embraced in their arms.
Anyone who knew Mom would know that she would never go anywhere unless her hair was done up and makeup on even though we kept on telling her that she was beautiful just the way she was. Thank goodness for Estee Lauder, lipstick and hairspray. Oh yes don’t forget the Kleenex.
We would like to thank all the staff at the Westmount Retirement Residence, Retire at Home, Pioneer Manor and her special caregiver Carmen who all became our family and friends. They all loved our Mom for her good humor and good will and made her stay a happy one. Mom would surely say “Did I ever tell you that I am a RN?”
Thank you Mom for all the love and care you gave to each one of us. We love you so very much.
At Mom’s request there will be no funeral visitation and only a private family burial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to Pet Save or Neo Kids would be greatly appreciated.
