Obituary for
Lorraine Cummings (Meuse)
Lorraine Cummings (nee. Meuse)
March 13, 1954 – June 11, 2017
In loving memory of Lorraine “Gammy” Cummings who passed away peacefully in her home, on June 11th 2017, at the age of 63. Loving mother of Brandi Cristo (Andrew), Kelsey Heikkila (Erik), and Shelby Strain (Matthew). Proud Gammy to Ellie, Archer, Andie, baby boy Cristo and many fur babies. Dear daughter of Paul and Helena Meuse (predeceased) of Coniston, and sister to Richard Muise of Brampton and Linda Fawcett (Jim) of Burlington. Lorraine remained an honorary member of the Cummings family for many years. She will always be remembered for her subtle sense of humor and gentle nature.
Born and raised in Coniston, Lorraine was a familiar face at the Colonial Inn where she worked as a bartender and played in a competitive women’s pool league. She would spend her summers taking her Mother and three kids on “Girls Only Vacations”, as well as Toronto to visit family and attend Canada’s Wonderland. She would later be known as ‘The Cool Mom’ by her daughters and their friends. More recently, Lorraine enjoyed a quieter lifestyle playing Bingo at Boardwalk Gaming Center, and enjoying rounds of cards with family and friends. She spent her last years living with her daughter Kelsey where Lorraine found a great deal of happiness in watching her grandchildren grow and learn over the years.
Mom, we will miss you so much and we hold close to our hearts all the fond memories and times we’ve shared. We take solace in knowing that you are no longer suffering and we find peace in knowing that you are with your parents and kindred spirit Violet, surrounded by many friends.
At Lorraine’s request, there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Lung Association would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home.
