Condolence: NICOLE AND FAMILY, I HAVE JUST RECENTLY BEEN ADVISED OF ALAN'S PASSING. I CANNOT TELL YOU ENOUGH ON HOW SADLY THIS HAS MADE ME FEEL. I HAVE KNOWN ALAN SINCE 1994 AND CANNOT EXPOUND ENOUGH ON HIS ABILITIES AND DEDICATION TO ALL TASKS PRESENTD HIM!! WHEN I WENT INTO THE CHIEF ENGINEERS OFFICE ONE OF THE PROJECTS WAS TO CREATE A MANUAL OF CONSTRUCTION AND SAFETY STANDARDS. I WAS VERY HAPPY WHEN ALAN ADVISED HE WOULD BE A PART OF THIS TEAM AND DEDICATE TO THE BETTERMENT OF STRUCTURES EMPLOYEES BOTH IN CANADA AND U.S.A. ALBEIT HE HAD OTHER REPONSIBILITIES AT CPR HE ALWAYS FOUND TIME TO CONTRIBUTE. I WOULD ALWAYS CHECK THE TIME HE RESPONDED TO ME AND IT WAS USUALLY IN THE LATER PART ON THE EVENING. THIS IS THE KIND OF GUY HE WAS. WE WERE ALSO INVOLVED IN A MAJOR BRIDGE PROJECT, THE BAXTER BRIDGE. IT WAS AT THIS TIME A WONDERFUL FRIENSHIP DEVELOPED.HIS GLASS WAS ALWAYS FULL, HE ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON HIS FACE (MOST OF THE TIMES) AND WAS ALWAYS PREPARED TO GET INVOLVED. HE WAS A GREAT GUY, WE SHOULD HAVE HAD MORE LIKE HIM. HE WILL BE MISSED BY HIS RAILWAY FRIENDS AND ASSOCIATES!! NICOLE, IT WILL BE HARD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND OR FEEL THE LOSE TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. THEY WOULD HAVE TO ENVISION THEM SELVES SUFFERING A LOSS TO THEM OF A SPECIAL PERSSON THAT ANCHORED THE FAMILY THROUGHT THE GOOD AND BAD OF LIFE. THEY THEN, MIGHT HAVE FEEL FOR YOUR LOSS. MAY GOD GUIDE YOU ALL THROUGH THIS DIFFICULT TIME. PERHAPS, WHEN SOME TIME HAS PASSED WE COULD TALK OF ALAN IN A BETTER FORM THAN THIS MESSAGE.
