Condolence: Sorry to learn of John's passing. St. David School was a remarkable place to journey with John's presence. Known as "Sir" and his lab coat, JOhn was a remarkable and unforgettable presence of energy, enthusiasm, wisdom, quick wit and dedication. The community of St. David was due in part to John's commitment to students, including daily, early morning and late afternoon sports with students, buying students supper and shoes, and driving anywhere in his truck that was needed for St. David School. The murals in St. David School on Jean Street were envisioned by John. I was blessed to have worked with John as my vice-principal, mentor and friend for five years on our teaching journey. Condolence: What do you say about someone I have known since Grade One all the way through my own elementary teaching career, someone who introduced me to the NDP party, someone who taught me math and years later showed me City Hall, came to see me when my father passed and someone whom I respected my whole life? Condolence: Oh that laugh! How it'll be missed! My sincerest condolences to Bertilla and the entire Rodriguez family. A consummate teacher who took genuine pleasure in engaging with me on any number of topics over the years. I always felt at home in his house and comforted by his embrace. I loved John like family and will miss him dearly. I am unable to attend his funeral, but please know that I am there in spirit. With much love and support, Stephanie

Condolence: I am saddened to learn of John's passing and offer my deepest condolences to the Rodriguez family. John was a colleague when I taught at St. David's School and I will remember him for his energy, commitment and passion - all attributes of a remarkable man. The students he served and the larger school community all benefitted from his efforts. Some 20 years later, I still run into students and parents who always speak with fondness of that time period and John is partly the reason why.

Condolence: John was one of the true heroes in Canada.He came here as a lad with $50 and created a lifetime of hard work,love and kindness to our lives.I was blessed to work on behalf of my fellow Steelworkers on many projects with John.He was a true friend to the working men and women of our great Canada.He will be missed!My sincere condolences to the family he loved so well.
