Obituary for
Barbara Marilyn Desjardins (Jones)
It is with deepest sorrow that the family announces the passing of Barbara Marilyn Desjardins (nee Jones) at the Espanola Regional Hospital on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the age of 74 years.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Velma and John Jones. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Ronald Desjardins, her daughters Christine Bonsall (Art) and Joanne Atkins (Steve), her cherished grandchildren A.J., Braeden, Brandon and Brooke, her brother John Jones (Alice), sister Susan St. Amand (Ben) and her many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was born in Sudbury, Ontario in 1942 where she lived for many years. She acquired her education and worked at Eaton’s before moving to Ramsey when she got married in 1965. She later moved to Copper Cliff and then to Espanola where she enjoyed her career at the Bank of Commerce and the Espanola and District Credit Union and her time volunteering at the Espanola Hospital Auxiliary. Barbara loved summers at the camp, reading, playing cards, collecting brooches and most of all spending time with her family.
A sincere thank you to close friends and neighbors for the support they provided over the past few months. Thanks as well to the staff at the Espanola Regional Hospital for treating Barbara with exceptional care and compassion. Words cannot express our gratitude; it made all the difference to us.
Visitation will be held at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home at 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, Ontario on Friday, August 18 where friends may call after 11am. A service of remembrance will be at 2pm in the chapel with a reception to follow. Her ashes will be interred in the Whitefish Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Espanola General Hospital Auxiliary.
