Marie Morrison (née Turcotte)
March 13th, 1927 – August 12th, 2017
Marie is now reunited with her much-loved husband, Don Morrison (predeceased 1991). We were fortunate to have our Mom live a long and plentiful life of 90 years! Her five daughters and families, together with many special nieces and nephews, will miss her greatly. Survived by daughters Jocelyn (Bruce LaRocque), Melanie (Steve Kerekes predeceased 2008), Christine, Laurel (Jeff Stone), and Jennifer (James Booth). Special Grandma to James (Rish Serrano) and Matthew Roach (Lindsay), Sarah, David, and Taylor Kerekes, Emily (Brock Sutton), Samantha, and Grant Booth, and Alex, Austin, and Avery Laurin. Great Grandma to Parker and Jordan. Born Marie Eleanore Turcotte in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) to Amelia (Blais) and Henri Turcotte. Survived by sister Adèle (Mel) Marsh and sisters-in-law Janet Hart (Tom) and Joan Turcotte. Predeceased by siblings and their spouses Roméo Turcotte (Léona), Isabelle Banting (Arthur), Jean-Paul Turcotte (Mary), Jeanne d’Arc Bourret (Ferdinand), Roland Turcotte, and Lionel Turcotte. Marie began her teaching career at the young age of 17 in Geraldton, Ontario, later moving to Sudbury where she completed a successful career as an elementary school teacher with the Sudbury Catholic District School Board. Mom loved children, dogs, and singing, and an abundance of these blessings filled her life. Throughout her life, Marie portrayed amazing strength and instilled a special “joie de vivre” with those who were fortunate to be part of her life. Marie also enjoyed travel, and her journey will continue in her memory through her family. We thank all staff at St. Gabriel’s Villa for the comfort and compassion shown to Marie over the past six years. A private family service will be held to celebrate Marie’s life. Donations to St. Gabriel’s Villa would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
