Obituary for
Fernando "Fern" Righi
In Loving Memory
of
Fernando “Nando” “Fern” Righi
90 years
Tuesday, September 26th, 2017 at Maison McCulloch Hospice, Sudbury.
Survived by his wife of 53 years Marta (nee Coriani). Father to Morena (David), Roxanna (Ossie) and Sonya (Bob). Cherished Nonno of Kurtis, Jacob, Giulia, Nicole, Jessica, Samantha, Erica, Nicole and Liam. Predeceased by his parents Verina (nee Mariani) and Celso, his sister Gianna and brother Amilcare. Survived by his sister Maria.
Nonno was born in Modena, Italy. He came to Canada at the age of 25 and worked many jobs: tobacco farms of Tillsonburg, lumber jack in British Columbia, gold mines in Yukon, before finally settling in Sudbury where he worked for Falconbridge for 32 years. Nonno was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed canoeing, portaging and fishing but his true love was hunting woodcocks. One of his favorite places to be was Manitoulin Island. His door was always open and everyone was always treated to endless bottles of homemade wine. He loved to make prosciutto and coppa and his garden was a treat for his children and grandchildren. He was active in the Italian community and a member of the Caruso Club. Nonno loved to socialize with friends but his grandchildren were his greatest pride. He will be sorely missed.
