Obituary for
John Richard Hartman
John R. Hartman passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2017 with his family at his side. John was born in Poland to the late John Saganiewicz and Eleanor Hartman. John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Colette (nee Potvin). He was the proud father of Ricky (predeceased), Carol (John Scott), Johnny (Cindy Olivier), loving grandfather of Ashley, loving brother of Leila and Adele (predeceased), loving uncle of numerous nieces and nephews and godfather of Patricia Enright. John founded and operated Acme Refrigeration & Air Conditioning for more than 50 years. He was the national Chair of the Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Institute of Canada (1985-86). John's support of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie was expressed through his many years of service as Chair of the Catholic Centre (1987) and Chair of the Family Enrichment Centre (1994). John joined the Knights of Columbus in 1987 and served as Navigator of Bishop Scollard Assembly (1999) and Grand Knight of Holy Redeemer Council (2005-06). In his younger years John was an avid sportsman, including hockey and badminton. With his mixed doubles partner Colette, they won the Northern Ontario Badminton Championships (1957). John loved golfing which he enjoyed for over 60 years. John lived most of his life on Ramsey Lake, always admiring its beauty.
