His first employment was with Babcock & Wilcox in Kitchener/Cambridge area. He moved to Sudbury and with his partner Bill started Mister Transmission on the Kingsway. He had a passion for building which led him to start his own Contracting Company years later. He enjoyed spending his time camping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He loved music and played the Banjo. Later in life he developed a skill for playing poker and had many successful runs at tournaments in Orillia. Carroll was a true outdoorsman who spent countless hours in his youth and adulthood chasing speckled trout up and down streams and lakes all over Northern Ontario.
