Obituary for Irene Blanche Lanovaz (Berube)

Irene Blanche Lanovaz (Berube)
Lanovaz, Irene (nee Berube)
There is a very bright star in the heavens today. Our dearest friend, mother and grandmother Irene Lanovaz (nee Berube) 82 years young passed on peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, February 13th, 2018 at Health Sciences North. She never liked long goodbyes, independent right to the end. Her passing was so sudden, she always said “Could be here today, gone tomorrow”. We know your son’s Rene, Ron and your husband, greeted you and are now playing cards. Beloved wife of Henri (predeceased 1999). Loving mother of June, Ronald (predeceased), Rene (predeceased), Claudette and Jeanette Steele (Mark). Cherished Granny of Christine, Cyndi, Brian, Courtney, Quinn, Jillian, Jayden, Dana, Dennis, Melissa and Cody, & many great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Alfred & Alvina Berube (nee Gauthier) and siblings, Jean, Albert, Annie, Leah and Bernadette. Survived by her siblings, Lillian (Louis), Aurore (Jim), Annette (Don), Rose (Albert predeceased) and Maurice (Marcella predeceased). She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

You are going to be missed mom, you will always be in our hearts and thoughts. As you always said “So long” after every phone call, it was never goodbye. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors in Emergency at Health Sciences North for their care and compassion. Also thank you so much Katie Johnson, Funeral Director at the Lougheed Funeral Home for her expertise, comforting words and for giving us hope! There are Angels among us!

At Irene’s request there will be no visitation or service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium with burial in the family plot at Lasalle Cemetery in the spring. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.

“Granny – if roses grow in heaven Lord, please pick a bunch for me, place them in my Granny’s arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her I love her and miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheeks and hold her for a while.”
