Norma Jean Fitzgerald
1932 - 2018
Norma Jean Fitzgerald, 86, passed away suddenly in Sudbury Ontario on February 22, 2018. Predeceased by her mother Edna Fitzgerald, her father Barney Fitzgerald, brothers Ron and Bill Fitzgerald, and her sister Ann Guilfoyle. She is survived by her sister Joan Owens of Burlington, Ontario and two loving sister in laws Rita (Frappier) Fitzgerald and Rita (Burns) Fitzgerald of Sudbury, Ontario. She is also survived lovingly by Nancy Hall of Elliot Lake, Ontario.
Norma enjoyed a good cup of tea, a hearty laugh, and long chats with family and friends. She loved dogs and owned several over her lifetime. Norma would often be seen riding her bike with her dogs by her side. She was an avid reader of the Toronto and Sudbury Star which she would read from front to back daily. She was extremely fond of the City of Sudbury. She loved politics and various debates at City Hall. She proudly volunteered on a number of Municipal Advisory Committees with a particular focus on the needs of seniors and the disabled. Her commitment, vision and passion for the City was demonstrated through her efforts.
She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, and their children, who all have fond memories of “Auntie Norma” and her entertaining stories. Special thanks to her good friend Claude, who helped her so much over the past number of years and special gratitude to Norma’s Physician Dr. John Crosbie.
Donations in Norma’s memory can be made to a charity of your choice. A family “Celebration of Life” has occurred.
Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
