Obituary for Saverio Rizzieri "Sav" Rocca

After a sudden illness, it is with profound sadness, we announce the death of Saverio (Sav) Rizzieri Rocca, at Sudbury, Ontario on March 18th, 2018. Saverio was born in Acquafredda, Italy, on April 23, 1949, to Giovanna and Filippo (predeceased) Rocca. He immigrated to Sudbury as a young boy. He leaves behind his beloved wife Betty (nee Salter) and cherished daughter Amanda (Jason). He is also survived by his mother Giovanna Rocca of Sudbury, his sister Ida Maria Minniti (Domenico) of Sudbury, his brother Benito (Samantha predeceased) of Fonthill, his mother-in-law Thelma Salter (Walter predeceased) of Brockville and his brother-in-law Gary Salter of Ottawa. Saverio will be lovingly rembered by his nephews and nieces, Anthony (Anahita) Minniti, Joanna-Maria Minniti (Nick), Eva Rocca, Phillip Rocca, and his great nieces Beata and Ava Ariana-Minniti. He will also be fondly remembered by family in Sudbury, Brockville, and Italy. Saverio was employed by Craig and Kohler Architects in Ottawa for several years and retired from the Ontario Realty Corporation in Sudbury after 31 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed designing and constructing residences in the Sudbury area and was also known as Mr. Fix It. Saverio was an avid gardener and produced bountiful crops for family and friends to enjoy. His talents also presided in the kitchen where he was well known for his flavourful dishes. Saverio’s zest for life, his kindness, his generosity and his calm, relaxed manner will be missed. His strong sense of family and responsibility provided guidance to others. Saverio was a wonderful husband, a devoted father, a dutiful son & son-in-law, a supportive brother & brother-in-law, and a caring uncle. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated. At his request, there will be no visitation. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. A private family celebration will be held.
