Obituary for Jacobus "Jack" Vandeligt

Vandeligt, Jacobus ‘Jack’ Gerardus

It is with sadness that the family announces the death of Jack Vandeligt, age 68, on March 26, 2018. Jack died at home on his farm in Val Therese, Ontario in the care of his loving wife Iris (nee Papp). They shared 41 years of marriage together and he was the cherished father of Kelly (Frank Jr.), Jacob (Melaine) and Katriena. He was the proud grandfather of Alyssa, Emma and Quinn.

Born in Rijkevoort, the Netherlands, he was the son of Theodore and Christine (nee Verdijk) Vandeligt, predeceased. The family immigrated to Canada in 1951. Brother of Peter (Nicole), Trudy (Pat), Paul (Joe-Anne), Jacqueline (Don), Mary (Connie), Ted (Monique), Herman (Monique) and Bert (Karen). Jack spent his career working for Metal-Air Mechanical Systems among friends. He will be remembered for his love of his farm and garage, his helping hand, and his fondness of tractors.

In memory of Jack, the family welcomes you to join them in a celebration of life at the Lougheed’s Funeral Home in Hanmer (4605 Michelle Drive) on Friday March 30, 2018 at 12:00 pm. Friends may gather Thursday from 4-8 pm and Friday at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, Jack’s wishes were for donations to be made to Maison McCulloch Hospice who cared for Jack and the family with love and excellence, and to Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport, for his companion Chihuahuas. A special thank you to Debbie who sat with Jack at night and to the Bayshore nurse team who assisted in fulfilling his wishes to die peacefully at home.
