It is with heavy hearts that the family shares the passing of James Stanley Welsh at the age of 87 on Monday, April 2nd, 2018 at Finlandia Village. Beloved husband of Adele (Champainge) predeceased. Cherished father of Michael (Nora) Welsh, Patricia (Normand) Gervais, Bill (Gaye) Welsh and Beverly Major (Luc predeceased). Loving grandfather of Keith, Lisa, Scott (predeceased), Kerri, Andrew, Sheena, Brandon, Alexander and Curtis. Special great grandfather of Hailey, Kensington, Aiden, Madeline, Evelyn and Phoenix. Dear brother of Robert (Shirley) both predeceased, Ralph (Joyce) both predeceased, Jack (Claire predeceased), Gary (Florence), Joan (Bob & Klaus predeceased) and Pat (Art). Dear brother-in-law of Gail (Bruce) Collins). He will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jim had a passion for airplanes achieving his bush piolet license at the age of 16. He was a long time pioneer resident of Elliot Lake who worked at the mines as the Chief Electrician until his retirement. Jim moved to Sudbury 6 years ago to be close to his family. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing cards and cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. A memorial service will be held in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018 at 11:30am. Friends may gather after 10am.
