Obituary for Esther Prete (Morello)

In Loving Memory of
Esther Louise Prete (Morello)
90 years
She passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018 at Extendicare York.

Beloved wife of Louis Prete (predeceased in 2011). Daughter of late Antonio and Giuseppina Morello. Esther was the dear sister of brother Delti Morello (predeceased), Mary (Rosetto) (predeceased), Elda (Kaukonen) (predeceased), Norma Rogers, and Edith Comisso. She is cherished by her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, and one of her greatest joys was spending time with them, dancing and singing. They will all miss their time with “Tee” greatly. Louis was the love of Esther’s life and they were married in 1948. Shortly afterwards she travelled to England with Louis when he played hockey with Wembley Monarchs and she talked about how they enjoyed their time there very much. As they celebrated more than 60 years of marriage to her best friend, Esther’s devotion to Louis was unmeasured.

She will be remembered for being “dressed to the nines”, always having her hair, makeup, jewellery, and clothing perfect. This was something she took great pride in. Esther took the time to dress her customers beautifully as well, and to this day women of all ages would come up to her and thank her for styling them as she did. She was a valued fashion co-ordinator and salesclerk at Levine’s Ladies Wear for over 25 years, then moved on to Maxim’s Ladies Wear and then to Jan Browning Ladies Wear. Esther was a devout Roman Catholic and was fulfilled when saying the rosary. Her happiest times were taking long rides with Louis, and munching on pastries and sweets.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the 4th and 5th floor Nursing staff, PSWs and Activity workers at Extendicare York, along with Dr. Roch and Dr. Koka. Their endless amount of patience, care and devotion to Esther’s needs was always first. They would also like to thank the volunteers who took care of Esther for the Tuesday and Thursday Mass celebrations.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer Society or NEO Kids Foundation would be appreciated.
