Obituary for Carmela Placido (Tammariello)

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden yet peaceful passing of Carmela Placido (nee Tammariello), 82, on April 30th, 2018. Dear daughter of the late Francesco and Angelina Tammariello (nee Massaro) of Italy. Adored wife of Gerardo Placido (predeceased, 2016). Together they shared 45 years of love and memories. Nurturing mother to Matteo (wife Raegan) of Sudbury and Mina of Ajax. Cherished Nonna of Nico and Ella. She was a consummate wife, mother, Nonna and caregiver.
Dear sister of Teresa Di Senso (husband Nino) both predeceased, Rosa Mandarino (husband Michele predeceased), Agostino Tammariello (wife Anna predeceased), Raffaella Gilio (husband Vincenzo), Biagio Tammariello (wife Vittoria) both predeceased and Giovanna Narducci (husband Massimo predeceased) all of Italy.
Dear daughter-in-law of the late Matteo and Gelsomina Placido (nee Nigro) of Italy. Dear sister-in-law of Michele (predeceased) wife Rosetta of Italy, Maria Esposito (husband Michele predeceased) of Italy, Rosa Verde (husband Luigi predeceased) of Rochester NY, Caterina Santoro (husband Donato) of Italy. She is sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in both Italy and Rochester, NY.
Carmela was born in Marcianise, Italy in 1935. She married her soulmate in 1971 and shortly thereafter moved to Canada committed to starting a family. Anyone fortunate enough to share her table can attest to her ability to feed any number of people within a moment’s notice. Over her many years in Canada, she developed close friendships that she considered family. She enjoyed spending time with them having long chats over espresso and biscotti. The greatest joy of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren. They will forever be blessed with memories of peeled grapes, tender kisses, words of encouragement and unwavering love. The bond she has cultivated with them will live on. Carmela is reunited with her husband in heaven where they will be guardian angels for their children and grandchildren.
Carmela, you will forever live on in our hearts. We love you and miss you terribly.
Special thanks to Dr. Wong and Dr. Felhaber for always taking such good care of our mom.
