Obituary for Denise Jeannette Menard

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of

Denise Jeannette Menard-daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, artist and lover of nature- who passed away unexpectedly, May 2018 in Sudbury, ON.

Denise was the second born to Jean Louis and Rose Menard on August 30, 1954 in Sudbury, ON. Denise spent her childhood in Levack, Ontario. She spent her life dedicated to her work as a city planner for Brockville and then found her passion for education in Southern Ontario. She loved her career as an elementary school teacher in Burlington and Oakville.

Beloved daughter of Jean Louis (John) (predeceased) and Rose Menard previously of Levack, ON. Loving sister of Michelle Gareau spouse Mike of Vernon British Columbia, Giselle Trahan spouse Gary of Onaping, Gilles Menard spouse Sylvia of Prince George, British Columbia, John Junior Menard (predeceased) and Donald Menard spouse Leslie of Barrie. Precious aunt to Dawn Charlotte Gareau partner Jim Logue of Squamish, John Michael Gareau and spouse Jessica of Vernon, British Columbia, Matthew Gareau of Vancouver, British Columbia, Anne-Marie Gareau of Vernon, British Columbia, Nicole Lafreniere spouse Phil of Chelmsford, Elyse Trahan, partner Brent Harmiden of Sudbury, Taylor Trahan partner Tessa Steele of Chelmsford, Brock Menard partner Anna Burgin of Barrie, Mitchell Menard partner Madisyn Partridge of Barrie, Sara Menard partner Eric Filion of Barrie. Gabriel Menard, Jonathan Menard, Justin Menard, Joseph Menard and Daesha Lynn Menard of Prince George, British Columbia. Special great aunt to Rachel, Kate, Luke, James, Maverick and Eric.

Denise had an adventurous soul who loved travel, the arts and the outdoors. She had a passion for hiking and being on the water. Her pastimes included genealogy and she was very proud to have established her heritage as a Métis. Her biggest love was spending time with her family who love her dearly. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 19th, 1pm at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish, 1887 Bancroft Drive, Sudbury, On. P3B 1S7. A gathering will follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations to the Nickel District Conservation Foundation or Science North.
