Obituary for Gregory "Greg" Robert Kay

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the tragic passing of Gregory Robert Kay (Greg) on May 25th, 2018 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury.
Greg was born and raised in Gatchel and later relocated to Minnow Lake where he lived for the past 30 years with his wife and raised his three daughters. He will be forever missed by his loving wife Sherry of Sudbury who he married in 1985. Proud Dad to his three girls Tara, Kyrstin (Dave), and Keeley (Dave), all of Sudbury. Proud Papa to his four grandkids Harlynd (9), Lexie (6), Axel (4), and Kaleeya (6 months) who are his pride and joy.
Cherished son to Russ and Joan Kay of Providence Bay. Dear brother to Grant (Elga) of Sudbury. Predeceased by and special grandson to Jean Irving who was very dear to his heart and spent much of his childhood making memories with her. He will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and coworkers.
Greg worked in the construction industry for over 35 years and was employed by Interpaving. He took great pride in his work and was well known for his hard work, dedication, being quick to lend a hand, and the many things he taught others in his trade. He was especially famous for his ability to stand out from the crowd like rocking his cowboy hard hat and favourite redneck line “Get-R-Done.”
Greg was most happy spending his free time at camp surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed cruising the waters on his wetjet and fishing. He was an avid Nascar fan and routinely watched the race every Sunday, Dale Earnhardt Sr. was his favourite driver.
If you were lucky enough to have met Greg you can bet you will never forget him.
The family would like to extend their thanks to all the staff in the intensive care unit at Health Sciences North for the care they provided Greg during his final days.
Greg was a proud organ donor knowing he would save lives and for that reason the family would like to encourage everyone to register themselves as an organ donor in Greg’s memory. A trust fund has been set up at the CIBC in the Southridge Mall and donations may be made to his 4 grandkids in support of their college educations. Greg wishes for all grandkids to hold college education as he doesn’t want them to have work as hard as he did.
