Petryna, Elvi Violet (Johnson) - With sadness we announce the passing of a dear wife, mother and sister in her 84th year on Wednesday, June 6th, 2018 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury. Elvi was the wife for 56 years to William (Bill) Petryna (predeceased 2008). She will be sadly missed by her children Brenda, Gregory (Lorrie), and Cathy and grandchildren Sara, Jay and Brian Hennessy, Stephen, Heather (Kevin Reynen) and Christopher Petryna and Peter, Tiffany, Victoria and Timothy Clay, and special niece and friend Ethel Fournier in addition to many other nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Riika Lovisa Nummela and Charles (Kalle) Johnson. She is survived by one sister Taimi Paivio (Ray predeceased) and predeceased by her siblings and their spouses Bill (Aino Elenius), Katri Charsley (Oliver), Leo, Aili Wainio (Kusti), Karlo, Raymond (Kaija Kivisto) and two little sisters, Ethel and Helvi.
Elvi lived life on her terms and to the fullest. She spent many happy summers at the cottage at West Arm and many winters walking the beaches and shopping the flea market in Florida. Last week she witnessed her grand-daughter’s graduation in Windsor, saw a play in Stratford and attended another grand-daughter’s bridal shower. Family was important to her and she cherished every moment she spent with them.

Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Sudbury Catholic Cemetery.
