Obituary for Sandra "Sandy" Gail Meuleman (Steel)

In loving memory of Sandra “Sandy” Meuleman (née Steel), 75 years old. On July 4, 2018 Sandy passed away at Health Sciences North in Sudbury surrounded by her loving husband, Joseph “Joe” Meuleman, of 46 years, and their two children Danielle and Eric Meuleman. Wonderful mother and grandmother to Danielle and her husband Denis Dalton, and their two boys, Canaan and Izaak Dalton of Toronto; and to Eric and his two children, Victoria and Elijah Meuleman, and their mother Danielle Carrière Cryderman, of Sudbury. Cherished daughter of William and Kathleen “Kay” (née Symon) Steel of Sarnia (predeceased), and sister to Glenn Steel and his wife Doris (Fonthill). Sandy will be sadly missed by her extended family, including Joe’s siblings and their families: Bernie and Gus VanMassenhoven, Bill and Bonnie Meuleman, Ria (predeceased) and Louis VanMassenhoven, Elizabeth Huys and John Huys (predeceased), and Elizabeth’s current partner Tim Zagorodny, Liduina and Joe VanOorschot, Ben Meuleman and Madeline Sauvé, and Gerry Meuleman. Sandy was a dear friend to Tom and Pat Menary (predeceased) and their two sons Michael and John Menary. Born in Sarnia, Sandy received her BA and Teaching Degrees from Western University before spending many happy years as a secondary school teacher. She started her career in Sioux Lookout, and then moved back to Sarnia, before coming to Sudbury in 1969 where she taught primarily French and some Physical Education at Lasalle Secondary School, Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School and Chelmsford Valley District Composite School. An animal lover above everything else, Sandy will be missed by her horses, Muscles and Amos, and dog, Rhea, and her many other human friends from Foothills Farm in Chelmsford.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the excellent staff, nurses and doctors at Health Sciences North for taking such amazing care of Sandy and her family.

Donations to the Canadian Wildlife Federation and Wild at Heart Wildlife Refuge Centre in Lively would be appreciated by the family.
