Dan
I took his first year psychology class in 1993, busted my butt studying and barely scrapped by with a C grade. Since that time I went on to get a doctorate and now teach my own classes. To this day, that intro class is still the most memorable and influential class of my entire education and career. You may not have always agreed with him, you may not even have liked him at times, but he didn't care one bit whether you did, and that, is perhaps what I respected about him most. He was his own man, and encouraged in his students to know their craft and reach higher. Defending an honors thesis in front of him prepared me for anything. Thank you for setting a rigorous, high standard, while so many teachers these days just hand out high grades to keep the peace. His classes were real. I can still see him walking the halls of Laurentian on the way to his lab.
