Obituary for Alzira de Pinho (Pereira Marques)

de PINHO, Alzira Pereira Marques
Born in Vilar do Paraiso, Portugal, on September 26th, 1926. In Loving Memory of Alzira Pereira Marques de Pinho, 91 years, who passed away on Friday, September 21st, 2018 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury.

Loving daughter of Joaquim Pereira dos Santos and Virginia Marques Gomes, both predeceased. Beloved wife of Manuel Moreira de Pinho (predeceased 2003) for 60 years. Cherished and loving mother of Antonio (wife Iedina) of Vilar do Paraiso, Portugal, and Olivia (husband Domenico Simonetti) of Sudbury. Dear grandmother of Valter (Teresa), Vitor (Luisa), Nelson (Ana), and Marcia. Dear great grandmother of Inês, Filipa, Sofia, João, and Maria. Loving sister of Antonio Pereira Marques, Olivia Pereira Marques, and Albertina Pereira Marques all predeceased, and survived by brother Joaquim Emilio Pereira Marques. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

She loved flowers, and was a talented florist, with her own shop in Portugal. Important to her were her family, her home, and being a devoted wife and mother. Family gatherings, wonderful meals, looking after the garden and yard at home made her extremely happy. Her work ethic was extraordinary, as well as her heart of gold when it came to helping others; her Catholic faith, and her special devotion to Our Lady of Fatima were always present in her daily life. Her expressive and striking eyes stood out to everyone she came into contact with. Above all, she faced all challenges throughout her life with incredible courage and stamina, and this exceptional spirit was truly evident when overcoming various health issues in her final days. She left a legacy of love and deep devotion to her husband and family, who were her pride and joy.

Donations to the Canadian Lung Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Our Lady of Hope Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
