With profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our father and Nonno Pietro (Pieri, Peter) Gallo at age 92, surrounded by his family. He is now at peace. Beloved and caring husband of Nives Gallo predeceased. Loving father to Roy (Cindy) and Laura (Marc). Nonno’s perpetual smile and calm presence will be missed by his adoring grandchildren Liana (Zack), Eric, Aaron (Caleb), Kyle (Raeanne), Cassey. Son to Vincenzo and Maria; youngest sibling to Rosa, Maria, Ida, Argentina, Gemma, Giovanni (all predeceased). Pietro immigrated to Canada from Valvazone Italy in 1955 and established a successful barber shop where he worked until retirement. Very involved in Sudbury’s Italian community he was a long-standing member of the Caruso Club, coached for the Italia Flyers soccer club, enjoyed coffee, playing cards and bocce with his friends and sang in the Choir during retirement years. Long standing member of Gruppo Alpini Sudbury. Pieri was known for his grace and love of dancing with his wife at numerous social events. Passionate about his yard and garden he shared its bounty with anyone who visited. Pieri’s greatest joy came from his family, especially his children and grandchildren. The family expresses their utmost gratitude to all the staff of the Elizabeth Centre for their friendship, comfort and care they provided to Peter during his final year. Donations to the Elizabeth Centre or the Maison McCulloch Hospice in Peter’s memory would be appreciated by the family.
Resting at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Monday, October 15th, 2018 where friends may call from 4-8 pm. There will be no visitation Tuesday morning. Funeral mass at Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Rd., Sudbury on Tuesday, October 16th, 2018 at 10:30am. Entombment at the Park Lawn Mausoluem.
