Peacefully Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018 with loving family at his side.
Beloved husband of Florence (Gillis) MacDougall predeceased 1991. Loving father of Sharon (husband Rod Koski), Kevin (wife Brenda) and Kathy Lehoux. Cherished Papa of Sarah (Adam), Laura (Aidan), Nathan (Patricia), Lindsay and great-grandchilden Shiloh, Ellie, and Clark. Dear son of John and Jenny (MacLean) MacDougall predeceased. Dear brother of Elvina predeceased, Iola Clark (husband Jim) both predeceased, Hannah Power (husband Ed) both predeceased, Dorothy Walters (husband Frank) both predeceased, and Agnes Delaney predeceased. Sadly missed by many loving nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where he married Florence (Gillis) in 1948 the same year they moved to Sudbury. He was a miner at Falconbridge Ltd. for 33 years retiring in 1983. He enjoyed fishing at his camp in Lake Wahnapitae. A man of faith he attended Glad Tidings Church where he actively participated in the church’s ministries and fellowship. John was devoted to his family taking great interest in their activities and accomplishments. He will remembered for his wonderful sense of humour. The light of his life will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. He can echo the words of St. Paul as he goes to his heavenly home. “I fought the good fight. I finished my course. I kept the faith.”
