Obituary for Andrew Kesek
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Andrew Kesek at the age of 95 on June 12, 2019 at Health Sciences North. Dearly missed by Regina (Tujdowska) Kesek. Loving father of Andrew (predeceased), Boleslaw “Bill” (Angie) of Sudbury, Kazimierz “Kaz”(predeceased), Ziggy (Lily) of Toronto, Irene of Sudbury, Bernie (Jan) of Tweed, Eugene (predeceased), Edward (Beth) of Duncan, B.C., John (Vickie) of Sudbury, Anna (Bob) of Sudbury, Michael of Sudbury, Christopher (Marilyn) of Garson. He will be sorely missed by his grandchildren, Patricia, Jennifer, Pamela, Jason, Christina, Andrew, Derek, Richard, Amanda, Adam, Sarah, Jordan, Troy, Matthew (predeceased), Ayla, Mitchell, Frank and Max. And grateful to have had a great-grandfather are his 17 great-grandchildren.
Andrew was born in Ratulow, Poland on April 3, 1924 to Anna and Andrzej Kesek (both predeceased). Survived by siblings Helena (Jan, predeceased) and Kazmirierz (Antonina, predeceased) both of Poland. Predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Jan (Antonina), Wladyslaw (Anna), Stansilaw (Marysia), Marian (Krystyna), Marysia (Bronislaw) all of Poland. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Andrew immigrated to Canada in 1951 and settled in Sudbury where he and Regina raised their 11 children in the home he proudly built. Andrew was a dedicated and hardworking employee of INCO for 34 years, 24 of which were at the Coniston Smelter. Committed to his faith, Andrew was a long-standing and active member of St. Casimir’s Church, where you can still admire some of his masonry work.
Andrew will be remembered as a humble and proud man who had a strong passion for gardening and a love of blueberry picking. He developed friendships everywhere he went which included trips to the mall, the coffee shop, the church and the casino. But what he was most passionate about was his family. Distance did not hinder Andrew’s ability to keep in touch as he always made a point to communicate and share memories and stories with all whom he loved near and far. He looked forward to his calls to family in the USA and in Poland, and enjoyed all celebrations with family who lived close.
