DORIS PARASKA SUSLYK (Nee BOGDAN)
We are deeply saddened to announce that our Mom, Baba passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2021 at Extendicare York with her loving son Nick by her side.
Beloved wife of Mykola (Nick) predeceased in 1993. Loving Mother of Dan (Debbie) of Thunder Bay and Nick of Sudbury. Proud Baba of Scott (Heather), Michael (Amanda) of Thunder Bay, Matthew and Jamie of Sudbury and Great Grandmother of Hannah, Lily, Alexander and Nicolas
Dear daughter of Wasylena and Dmytro (Dan) Bogdan predeceased
Dear sister of Clifford, Joseph, Michael, Annie, Lily, Olga, Mary and Natalka all predeceased.
Cherished friend of Ernie Bunka. Lovingly remembered by many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends
Our Mom, Baba was born in Sudbury on April 17, 1932 and married our Dad, Gido on May 30, 1953. She worked for many years as a legal secretary at Warren and Rolston, which later became Rolston, Humphrey and Babij.
She was a longstanding parishioner and volunteer at St, Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church and enjoyed working with her ladies in the kitchen. She had a great respect for Father Peter.
She loved her family immensely and was very proud of each and every one of us. She enjoyed dancing and could stay on the dance floor for hours. As anyone can tell you, she loved anything to do with gambling, be it the casino, playing cards (she taught her grandsons to play poker for pennies) and Bingo; she loved beating the odds and winning. She was a fantastic cook (her pizza, pyrohy and meat sticks were delicious) and loved entertaining. We all remember her wonderful Ukrainian Christmas dinners. She enjoyed knitting for her family and creating the most beautiful cross stitch and needlepoint pictures. She loved to watch her Blue Jays and never missed a game. She loved travelling and had many wonderful trips with her sidekick Deanna.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the wonderful staff on the 6th floor of Extendicare York. We are grateful for the excellent care and compassion shown to our Mother.
Mom, Baba we love you dearly and will forever miss you.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date when we can gather safely
Memorial donations to Health Sciences North or St. Marys Ukranian Catholic Church would be appreciated.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home
