Obituary for Kirsti Ellen Jutila (Tolmonen)

In Loving Memory of
Kirsti Ellen Jutila
(nee Tolmonen)
89 years

Thursday morning, February 25, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 10, 1931, in Kannus Finland, a daughter of the late Kalle and Emmi Tolmonen and immigrated to Canada in 1957. Kirsti was predeceased by her siblings Kalevi Tolmonen, Aira Mustajarvi, Terttu Mustajarvi, Kaarina Luomala, Sirkka Pesonen, Hilkka Blostrom and Saara Annala and her family knows she is happy to be reunited with them once again in Heaven. She was an active member and volunteer of New Hope Lutheran Church, and also spent countless hours volunteering in the kitchen at Hannah Lake Bible Camp. She was an amazing cook, baker, loving wife, mother and mummu. She will always be remembered for insisting you take second helpings at the table, or you would risk insulting her and her cooking. It didn't matter if you were full, you had to be sure to save room for multiple offerings of her delicious desserts. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Valde Olavi Jutila. Her children, Merja Hirvi (Walter), Eija Martikkala (Jari) and Mona Taylor (Eric) all of Sudbury. Her grandchildren, Christina Punkari (Keith), Selina Lachance (Ryan), Maija Weber (Devin), Meliisa Martikkala (Eyjolfur), Jonna Martikkala (Mike), Nicholas Taylor and Benjamin Taylor and eight, great grandchildren, Emily, Kaitlyn, Cowen, Carter, Jack, Avery, Sawyer and Abigail. Mummu was happiest caring for her grandchildren and always put her family before her. She loved all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and son-in-laws like they were her own. She was always so proud of their accomplishments and counted her blessings daily. Her family will cherish the memories they shared with her and she will be greatly missed.
