When I was a little girl, 10-11 yrs. of age, living in the town of Chapleau, I often went skating and would always look for Uncle Butch at the old rink (which Adelard Lafrance built)! Why? Well, because he gave me the biggest thrill that any amateur skater could wish for. He would tell me to hold on real tight and he would skate really fast, then tell me to let go! Wheee!! I can still hear the music "O Shanendoah" playing in the background as I flew across the ice! You were such a wonderful uncle to me and although we did not see each other that much through the years, you always have and always will have a special place in your niece Patricia aka "Tootsie" heart. Dear Aunt Huguette, Michelle, Ann, Jean, and Paul. I'm so sad to hear of Uncle Butch's passing. I thank the Good Lord that I got to see both of you last February, what a wonderful day we all shared in together. I will always remember Uncle's very gentle demeanour; he always shared with us a little joke or some humorous situation in his subtle rather impish manner; and I mean that with the utmost respect. He will be sorely missed, Debby and I wish to convey to all of you our deepest sympathy.

Sorry to hear about Anne's father's passing. Although I have only met Anne once through a social gathering with Ward, I sensed a compassionate and caring person that often shared these qualities with others. I would like to extend to Ward and Anne these same qualities in their time of sorrow and simply state that distant others feel for you and in this way share your sorrows.

Papa loved music and wanted to sing some tunes, but was told by a teacher when he was a young boy to "chante en poisson" meaning to sing like the fish do. He did sing to us on occasion, and my favorite memory is when he sang "La vie en rose" to me as a young girl, brushing my hair back with his fingers while I was sitting on his lap. I miss the sound of your voice papa...

We are both so sad to hear of Butch's passing. He was a wonderful neighbour (back in the late 1970's), and lifelong friend thereafter. Butch was such a kind loving and talented man who will be missed by many. Our condolences to Huguette, Michelle, Jean, Anne and Paul, Laura and Stephanie. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Story shared: An unsuccessful Time-Out!

When I was a little girl, my pepere Collin taught me to say the word "bulls--t", and My papa overheard me using while outside playing in the yard. In order to teach me a lesson and to stop using my newly aquired word, papa sent me to my room for a time out. I stormed off to my room in compliance and used the "bs" word stomping on each step and before slamming my door shut. Once I was done with my tantrum, I opened my bedroom door, stood at the landing of the stairs, and my papa let me know that if I was going to behave, I could come down and play outside. To make sure my papa understood how upset I was with having been given a time out, I asked him if "he was going to be a good boy?"...well said my papa "there goes one lesson out the window!" We made up soon after and life was good again. I'm gonna miss my papa so much!!
