Sorry to hear of Peter's passing. He was such a caring person and this caring had such depth... co-workers, family, animals, plants. Truly a gentle person with a big heart. I'm blessed to have met Peter.

So very sorry to learn of Peter's passing. My sincere condolences to all his family including all the nieces and nephews he was so find of. I knew Peter as a colleague in COMSOC and then MCSS from the 1960s when I would travel from Thunderbay for meetings with the VRS social workers in the north and later in Toronto. Wonderful memories. We have kept in touch and I knew he was struggling over the past few years. He will be missed.

I was so very fortunate to grow up with an Uncle like Peter. He was always laughing, somewhat miscievious, and always available with a story when I was young and advice as I grew older. Peter did not have any children of his own, but everytime I hear my son make reference to the Borley Rectory or I find myself trying to unwrap a present from my son that was wrapped with a whole spool of tape, I realize there is a little Uncle Peter in the both of us. I will miss him so much.

Story shared: Gardening days

When I was a little boy uncle Peter was always gardening at my parents house. He would be digging and weeding and sifting through the garden and I would try to help but I was almost always in his way. However, when I asked what needed to be done he would just say, "water please" as he was always sweating from working so hard. One day I worked beside him, not nearly as hard and I went to the water tap without him seeing me and splashed water all over my face and hair so I too would look just like him... with hair. He looked over at me and said,"water please" so I replied, " how about you get the water this time since I'm working just as hard as you. Can you not see all this sweat?" He reached over and touched my face, and with a stern look he said, sweat is warm.... I'd like ice with my water." Those are the days I will miss most.

So many wonderful memories of Peter from the days that he worked at MCSS. He was a wonderful storyteller, a mentor and a support, an avid gardener and collector. Will never forgot how he would go to the mall to buy lottery tickets with the hope of winning "the big one" so he could retire sooner! My sincere sympathy to Peter's family. Rest in peace, Peter.

Our sincere sympathies to Peter's family. He was a friend and colleague of our late father: Pierre Groulx (1924-2007) at COMSOC. We remember Mr. Samborki's smile, that he was a gentleman and a natty dresser. We remember Peter's love of flower gardening and how he and our late mother, Estelle, would exchange gardening tips.
