It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our husband, father, grandfather (paappa) and great-grandfather, on Wednesday, October 18th, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lily (Kauppi) and sons Mark (Nicky), Paul (Glenda), and Peter. Also survived by his grandchildren Eric (Ashley), Laura (Cory), Adam, Léa, Marta and Simon, and great grandson Parker. Antti was the son of Hilma Maria Mäki and Lauri Iisakki Kurkimäki and of stepmother Aili Ahosaari all predeceased. He is survived by his brother Jussi (Marjatta) and sister Elisa (Jussi). He was predeceased by his brothers Orvo, Mikko, and Mikko (Eira predeceased).
Antti was born in Ylihärmä, Finland, on June 27th, 1926 and came to Canada in 1951. In his younger days, he sang in the church choir and Finnish Male Choir. He was active in the founding and building of Finlandia Village. He leaves a legacy of hard work, including at the cottage on Fairbank Lake where he loved to spend a lot of time.

Interment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery.
