Obituary for Christopher Simister

Christopher Simister
In
Loving Memory
of
Christopher “Chris” Simister
63 years
Passed away suddenly but peacefully on
Friday, October 20th, 2017
at Health Sciences North

Beloved husband of 46 years to his childhood sweetheart Katherine “Kathy” Simister (nee Shalatynski). Loving “Dado” of Kevin Simister (Sarah), Claire Simister (Ben Wilson), and honorary son, Frank Tremblay (Amanda). Precious Nono to Chase and Autumn Wilson. Survived by his mother Lilian Croteau, mother-in-law Emma Shalatynski, stepsister Donna Murphy (Garry), stepbrothers Alain Croteau (Loretta predeceased, partner Liette) & Richard Croteau (Betty), sisters-in-law Carol Dubois (Roger), Wendy D’Ambrogio (Carlo) & Jennifer Dorland (Robert), and his many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Predeceased by his stepfather, Frank Croteau in 1991 and father-in-law, Mike Shalatynski in 1985. Dearly missed by the Chezzi family, his dear friends, Gerry and Laurie Portelance, and his special Uncle Alf and Auntie Kay Hall and family in Manchester, England.

Born in Belleville, Hastings Township, on February 12, 1954, Chris worked at INCO’s Nickel Refinery as an Instrumentation Technician for 34 years, retiring in 2009. Holding a life-long interest in computer and electronics repair, Chris owned and operated Simister’s Electronics, a home-based business he ran with his wife Kathy for 21 years. He also proudly obtained his Electrician Certificate in 2008. He was a dedicated member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Coniston and the Knights of Columbus.

Chris dedicated his life to his family and helping others. A talented handyman and carpenter, he was always working on a project that would ultimately improve the lives of those he loved. He had a love for curling, having played and watched the game for many years. He was an enthusiastic Toronto Blue Jays fan who loved to attend ball games at the Rogers Centre with his family. He was a proud and doting Dado and Nono, who never failed to tell a good dad joke. Most of all, it was the love affair between Chris and his wife of 42 years, Kathy that will never be forgotten; his most favourite thing was to dance with and sing to his soul mate -off key. Chris was loved and cherished by many and he will be missed beyond belief.
