Katherine Reid
Kay Reid, of Sudbury passed away peacefully at home on February 4, 2018 at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving children Lillian and Todd.
Kay was born in Capreol, Ontario on May 27th, 1934 to John and Emma Hawrelluk. She was sister to Andy (Toni) both predeceased, Helen (Ralph) both predeceased, John (Helen) both predeceased, Michael, predeceased (Rita) and Annie (George) predeceased.
Kay was married twice. In her first marriage she was blessed with two beautiful children Lillian (Irwin) and Todd Thomas. Lillian had three children Benjamin, Jonathon and Julianne and 7 grandchildren Mackenzie, Mason, Marek, Jacob, Emily, Jack and Bradley. From her second marriage she had three stepchildren, Jim Reid, Judy Jewit and Cheryl and grandchildren.
In 1966, Kay and her husband Veral bought a garden centre and named it Evergreen Gardens located on Nepahwin Avenue in Sudbury, Ontario. They were very successful in this new adventure.
Kay was a very intelligent business woman. She was an active member and former president of the Royal Canadian Legion in Sudbury (Lockerby Ladies Auxiliary Branch 564) and loved dancing for seniors with the Capreol Cloggers. Her vibrant spirit and fun-loving ways, including dressing up in holiday costumes, always brought joy to friends and family. She had a flair for gardening for her yard was an oasis of breathtaking beauty filled with love.
Kay always enjoyed taking helicopter rides with her amazing son Todd, enjoying beauty at its best above and beyond the clouds.
Kay was loved and will be greatly missed by her children Lillian Irwin (Murray) and Todd Thomas (Dillon), by her grandchildren Benjamin Day (Kirsten), Jonathon Day and Julianne Falzon (JP), sibling Annie (George) and by her many other family and friends.
“Grandma Kay” will also be affectionately remembered by great grandchildren Jacob, Mackenzie, Emily, Jack, Mason, Bradley and Marek.

Interment in the family plot at Civic Cemetery Field of Honourary Veteran’s Section.
A Memorial Service

7:30 P.M. Thursday under the auspices
R.C.L. Br. 564 Lockerby Ladies Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers donations to Royal Canadian Legion Br. 564 Lockerby would be appreciated.
