Délorèse (Pelletier) McGaughey

God saw her getting tired, a cure was not to be.
He wrapped her in his loving arms and whispered ‘Come home with me.’
She suffered much in silence, her spirit did not bend.
She faced her pain with courage, until the very end.
She tried so hard to stay with us but her fight was not in vain,
God took her to His loving home and freed her from her pain.

On Monday, February 19, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, Délorèse passed away peacefully at the age of 76 years. Beloved wife of Austin McGaughey (predeceased 2010). Loving mother of Angela (Sylvain Beaupré), Cheryl (Robert Ranger), Nicole (Vincenzo Paparo), and Michael (Lizette). Cherished grandmother of Trevor, Caitlyn, Steven, Samantha, Aryana, Eryka, Olyvia, Meagan, and Taylor. Dear daughter of Dollard and Cécile Pelletier (both predeceased). Dear sister of Anita (Bob Sharkey, predeceased), Suzanne (Donald Laforge), Claire (Michael Cadeau), Sylvia (Mark Fenton), Lise (Len Bolton), Thérèse (Raymond St. Jean), George. Predeceased by her siblings, Lauraine (Roger Paquette), and Normand (Lise). She will be sadly missed by many nieces, and nephews. She will be foundly remembered by many special friends.

Born in Parry Sound on October 4, 1941, she married Austin in Val Caron in 1963. Délorèse worked as a school teacher for 15 years, then as a switchboard operator at Laurentian University until she retired in 2003. She was a woman of great faith, a strong member of St. Kevin’s Parish, a 40-plus year member of the CWL and an active volunteer of the "friends of the Grotto". Dedicated to her community, Délorèse was a founder of the Girl Guides movement in Valley East, a volunteer at the Elizabeth Centre as well as an active member of "Comme-Femmes". Some of her favorite times were spent with her grandchildren and volunteering her time at their school events and extra-curricular activities. She was their ultimate fan.
