Patrick Giles Ovens 1946 – 2018

The family of Patrick sadly announces his passing on Monday, February 26th, 2018 at Health Sciences North. Beloved son of John “Jerry” and Isabel Ovens (nee Marsaw) both predeceased. Cherished husband of Joanne (nee Goulet) of Capreol and devoted father of Kathleen (Aaron) of Fergus. He was immensely proud to be Grampa Pat to Ava and Maya. Much loved brother to John, Jim (Julianna) predeceased, Gloria and Suzzi. Also mourned by several nephews and nieces and by many friends far and wide, with whom he loved to share great food, pots of tea and the occasional Irish whiskey while telling stories and jokes. Patrick worked for the Rainbow District School Board for over 30 years in many capacities (teacher, counselor, coach and friend). After retiring, he enjoyed life at home and at the camp on Ironside Lake with family, friends and many pets. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium with interment in the Capreol Cemetery to follow at a later date. Donations to the Sudbury SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
