In loving memory of Leona Lillian (Sanders) Maslack, 89 years, who passed peacefully at Pioneer Manor Saturday March 24th, 2018.
Beloved wife, best friend, and life partner of John Maslack. Loving mother of Betty Jane Marks (Stephen) and Judy Roy (Randy). Cherished grandmother of Sarah Wallace (Jeff), Jennifer Adams (Corey), Curtis Roy (Meghan), Shelden Roy (Saya), Kyler Roy, and great grandchildren Emily, Jacob, John, Katherine, Benjamin, and Matthew. Dear daughter of Clifford and Margaret Sanders both predeceased. Dear sister of Clayton predeceased (Lois), Betty Carmichael (Jim predeceased), Sharon O’Brien predeceased (John), and Margaret Dearing (Bud). Special aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Leona was a lifelong Sudburian. She was a woman of great faith and was known for her kindness and compassion.
Leona met the love of her life, John, when she was 16, and they were married nearly seventy years. They raised two daughters, Betty Jane and Judy, and enjoyed watching their family grow. Leona was an incredibly devoted grandmother and great-grandmother and had a special fondness for children.
Together with John, Leona helped found the family business, Maslack Supply. She was a member of All Nations Church. She had many interests including gardening, curling, golfing and was a member of the Sudbury Skating Club. She was a proud homemaker and loved to cook. While she was fortunate to travel, and enjoyed her winters in Florida, Leona always loved returning home to Sudbury.
Leona truly embraced the people in her life. Her most cherished times were surrounded by her family at the cottage on Long Lake. Leona’s warm, gracious presence was at the centre of it all, welcoming close family and new friends alike.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Pioneer Manor, Cranberry section, for their care and compassion.
A Private Family Funeral Service was held in the R. J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Entombment in the Civic Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
