Obituary for Mary Blair (Giardini)

Mary Blair (Giardini)
MARY (MARIA) BLAIR

The family would like to announce with heartfelt sadness, the passing of Mary Blair at the age of 96. Mary passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family at the Maison McCullough Hospice on August 4th, 2018. Daughter of Everisto and Beatrice Giardini both predeceased. Beloved wife of Herman Bortolossi predeceased 1941 & Alfred Blair predeceased 2004. Dear sister of Guilio Giardini predeceased and Irma Taus (Enso predeceased). Loving mother of Patricia Bertrand predeceased (Bob), and Doug Blair (Doreen) of Lively. Sadly missed by her granddaughters Cheryl Meaden (Michael), Anne Marie Greer (Dave predeceased) both of Mississauga, Becky Mynerich (Frank), Mandy Beech (Riley) both of Lively, and her great grandchildren Colin, Nicholas, Mitchell, Mark, Zachary, Mason, Tessa, Bryson, Max and Gavin. Lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews and special friends.

Mary was born in Fano, Italy on September 14th,1921. At the age of 5, her family immigrated to Canada and settled in the town of Copper Cliff. Married at 17 and widowed at 19, she then journeyed to Toronto to learn the art of hairdressing to support her daughter. While hairdressing in her home, Mary’s clients became her friends, enjoying her delicious desserts and endless cups of coffee. Mary was the strength of her family and was a dedicated wife, mother and Noni. She never stopped supplying all of them with the very best homemade Italian dishes. Her Catholic faith strengthened her through many tragedies during her life. She loved her church and devoted herself to prayer. She prayed the rosary daily for family and friends and wore out many rosaries. Even throughout her illness, Mary continued to worry about the lives of others.

She left this life under the watchful care of the nursing staff at the Maison McCullough Hospice. The family cannot thank them enough for their compassion and support during those trying times. A special thank you to the MacLennan and Taus family for their unselfish love and kindness during this troubling time.
Donations to Maison McCullough Hospice would be appreciated.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Church, 78 Balsam St, Copper Cliff, ON, on Friday August 10th, 2018 at 11:00 am and will be followed by a celebration of Mary’s life. Arrangements entrusted to Lougheeds Funeral Home.
